What mental healthcare services are offered through telehealth?

Essentially all services that an on-site psychiatrist would provide are offered through telehealth. This includes administering comprehensive intake assessments, psychiatric evaluations, psychotherapy and medication management.

Can medication be prescribed with telehealth?

Yes. Our providers are able to prescribe all psychotropic medications for patients seen virtually. Schedule II through Schedule V controlled medications can be prescribed, as well. With our ePrescribe feature, psychiatrists can electronically fill and send prescriptions directly to their patients’ pharmacy of choice.

How effective is telehealth?

Over the years, many well designed studies have been conducted demonstrating the clinical equivalency between a traditional face-to-face session and one conducted using telehealth.

Are patients comfortable with the platform?

Yes, they are. In fact, some patients even prefer receiving treatment through videoconferencing. Sessions are scheduled within days, eliminating the need to identify a psychiatrist nearby– who may be located hours away, as is the case in many areas– then wait several months for an initial appointment. Many individuals appreciate the privacy the platform affords and feel more comfortable seeing psychiatrists remotely, without worrying that they will encounter their psychiatrists in their community.

How soon do I need to cancel the appointment to avoid cancellation fee?

You will be charged $85 for any missed appointment that is not cancelled at least two business days in advance.

What to do if you have medication side effects?

Some mild side effects can happen when you start any new medication. If you are experiencing very mild side effects then these usually go away within the first couple of weeks. You can send a message through the portal to let your provider know, but keep in mind your provider sometimes not able to respond for several days.

If you are experiencing severe side effects, then you may need to seek medical help and stop taking your medication. Do not wait for a response from your provider if you are worried; go to the ER, urgent care, or your PCP.

What to do if you are out of refills?

Procedure: Send a message in the portal that you need a refill, often a follow-up appointment is needed to touch base before a prescription can be made. Please do not wait until you are running out to submit your request. Please send your refill request two weeks before you expect to run out.

To ensure the highest standard of care and medication safety, our practice may require a follow-up appointment to discuss your treatment progress before a new prescription can be issued or an existing one can be renewed.

Please include the following details with your refill request:

-Which medications you need filled

-Last fill date

-How many days worth of medication you have remaining

-What pharmacy you want to use. Specify if this is a change, and update your default pharmacy in the portal.

Pharmacies often put prescriptions on-file that don’t need to be filled yet, and they do not show up on their screen unless they check for archived prescriptions. If the pharmacy should already have a prescription, please ask them to check for any other prescriptions that may be on-file or archived.
